What are some good formal short hair styles?

It's 2 weeks before my sweet 16 and i have medium length hair. I was going to go to the salon i go to and curl it for my sweet 16, but i REALLY want to get my hair cut about an inch or two past shoulder length. I'm worried if i curl it, it will be too short and i will wait until after my sweet 16 to cut it. But if i find some cute styles for the shorter hair i will cut it and do that. Do you have some good styles to do my hair for my sweet 16?
